    'Germanische Leistungsrune in bronze’

This is a nice – and 100% period! – ‘Germanische Leistungsrune in bronze’ that was recently dicovered in the Netherlands. The piece belonged to a Dutch Waffen-SS soldier and was kept as such for years. As more often seen on these original badges – there are maybe a handful surviving examples known world-wide – is this example somewhat damaged: one of the enameled runes shows enamel damage. This can of course be professionally repaired but it can also be left as it is now....it is IMO not that disturbing: most of the surviving and known original examples show similar damage.

Simple a very nice example that I wanted to share with you all.

    Your comments are most appreciated!
    Best regards,
    Mark (‘Arnhem’)

Nice to see an original when all you see mostly are those horrible RZM marked fakes.

A 100% original bronze leistung rune. The chipped emalje is sadly "common" among some existing examples.
A stunning ans extremely rare SS medal.
Thanks for showing it. BTW. There are some pics of them being used on green w-ss tunics. Can anyone provide pics of the Germanische leistungsrune being worn?

                      The GLR in bronze.

                      Dear all,

As far as I know are pictures wherein a GLR is acrtually worn also very scarce.

Hereby an example of a picture from my own collection: the only one I have (ever seen). The picture is of (an regrettably unnamed) Dutch SS member: it has only an inked date on the back that reads: 30 November 1944.

                      Best regards,

                      Coco

I have a photo of one in wear somewhere, I'll have a look for it. There have been a few posted on WAF over the years too. In the mean time here's one of Himmler giving them out in Avegoor.

There are quite a few badges around without such extensive damage, many are just scratched so I wouldn't say most are damaged, that would be incorrect.
