    Blank (SD) tab

    Wanting to show a blank SD tab that I just obtained. (Ebay offer with no competing bids...so opening bid was sufficient)
    Technically its not SD as titled, as the RZM tag is light blue. (as opposed to SS black with runes symbol)
    This would mean its intended actually for the NSKK (or SA....both used light blue RZM tags if I'm not mistaken).

    A third Reich era tailor would not pay much attention to the color coding on these RZM tags and such a tag could have easily ended up on a Waffen SS or SD uniform (instead of SA or NSKK) I would think so I placed it in this section!

    Of course both SS foreign volunteers and NSKK foreign volunteers often wore blank right collar tabs.
    Too bad somebody wrote modern markings (note numerals) on the tab.... obtained in 2003???
    The story is that it came from a (now defunct) museum...So perhaps its a museum inventory number?
    but no sane museum conservator would deface an object like that with a marker I would think!

    Hope you like it!

    SD Collar Tab

    Good tab, incorrect RZM tag as stated for SS.

          True, I agree, for issuance to a German national it would be considered an unissued, unfinished piece...still lacking unit cyphers...

          HOWEVER during the war tha majority of the NSKK men serving outside of the Reich were foreign volunteers
          and those men wore either;
          such a tab with a small metal NSKK eagle appllied when available (indicating foreigner)
          or otherwise in many cases just a plain blank tab as depicted... (also indicating foreigner)

          So in that scenario its definately not an unfinished piece...
          These were certainly issued blank (just like certain Wffen SS foreign volunteers and SD men)
