To make it appear used. I don't care for it, looks artificially aged and I'd bet the litze on the rank tab is fake.

It doesn't convince me at all, and why is the runic tab missing ... to comply to eBay rules????!!!!

I think it looks O.K. from the back, but when you get around to the front....the white stitching serves no purpose. White stitching on the rank tab? Artificial appearing dirt, and the litzen originality can't be determined by the photo. Huge risk in my opinion.

I don't mean to defend that piece but the thread is not white thread, just faded grey thread, check the section where the one tab has been removed, you can see that in the areas that were covered by the "tab" the thread is still grey.

Fritz maybe correct. Looking at the back of the collar. To me it doesn't appear to have white threads.

I've seen much worn collar tabs with remnants of thread and the thread on the obverse is always black. The reverse should be always grey because the spool is always feld-grau. It doesn't convince me because the color of the thread is consistent all around the hem line of the collar and on the rank tab, if it was faded it would be much less homogeneous since wear and weather can distress a garment in certain spots more than others.

a part from the thread being of an off color and that the hem line runs on the collar tab too, an important detail that hasn't been noticed is the fact that the collar is missing the tresse for the Scharführer rank!
This detail alone is enough to discard this piece.

a quick comparison with a real cut-off to show how the Germans had the stitching made. I don't think they would have forgotten to sew the tresse on the collar ...

You are charging an open door, all I am saying is that the thread isn't/wasn't white, just faded, that's it. Do I like the piece? No.
