Untersturmfuehrer Collar Tabs - Opinions Please

    Hi Everybody,

I picked these up at the weekend. They look to have been removed from a tunic. As for condition: the Runic Tab is probably the best of the two; the rank one has corrosion to the pips and the obverse of the tab has changed to brown with the passing of time (presumably from the sun - perhaps it was stored on top of the other one) - the reverse is still quite dark in comparison.

I believe them to be good but would appreciate your opinions.

    Thanks for looking.

    All the best,
    Toby.

And a close-up of the rank pip:

Sorry for all the pics - thanks again.

                tabs

                These look like re-enactors copies.
Nothing good about these! Just look at the crooked embroidery!!!!

I have to agree on these. Corrosion is never an indicator of age as it is easily done either with chemical treatment or other artificial aging. Just look at all the Czech repro ET71 paras the fakers bury for awhile then turn up on Ebay as dug helmets. The bullion work isnt of any quality at all and the thickness of the bullion screams repro right away. When it comes to bullion they dont have the quality.

It is pecular that the rank tab looks soaked, most likely with a corrosive chemical which is why the color of the backing changed and caused the frosting to the pips and damage to the cloth.

                    Thanks for the comments.

                    Initial thoughts -

but I must remain positive, once again a lesson learned.

Hopefully, the seller should take them back.

                    All the best,
                    Toby.
