    SS Officers Sleeve Eagle

Thought I'd show the item that gave me the bug when I was about 12.

The SS Sleeve Eagle my grandfather brought back.
He served in North Africa with the Royal Artillery, went up though Italy and was in Austria until 1946.

Very nice! Interesting to see the white cloth underlay which has never had the usual thin black paper backing applied...

          Very nice indeed Snorky.

Any other SS items in your collection?

I agree with the above comments that it is an original!
It also has the upper wing line in twisted bullion and the white backing. Template is clearly visible. Similar eagles has been discussed in the past and some were sceptic.
I think more and more collectors realise that there existed original bullion eagles with the white backing.

            Cheers and thanks for sharing

              SS officers eagle

Very nice eagle, and a great way to start a collection. Congratulations, Smitty.

Thanks for your comments, it's one of the few items in my collection that I'd never sell. The sentimental value is worth more than monetry amount. Interesting about the backing.

                Herrgeezer,
Unfortunately I only have a couple of other SS items, a typewriter and a wool armband. (I think that's all i've got, I'm finding items i'd forgotten about all the time.)

                Cheers
