Well....it sold....!!! I was deliberating whether or not to go for it....but having spent quite a bit lately I thought better of it...

Maybe a tunic or two next year...who knows. How long will prices stay crazy, or will they continue to rise...?

Not questioning period originality of any components of the tunic, as I too feel this has been consistently supported by comments. Simply desiring more dialogue regarding period application of insignia.

      Thanks for the link Glenn.

Well for 5k it was pretty cheap for an SS tunic...(cant believe I said that)

As well as that I thought Totenkopf was suppose to be alot rarer than other SS divisionen, therefore maybe more $$$. (I havent seen many tunics, only insignia).

I guess people desire the Siegrunen more than the Totenkopf, part of the reason why I left it.

I know there were plenty of SS manufactured tunics found in factories at the end of the war with the sleeve eagles applied only (and as Mr Hess mentioned)

So,if someone adds collar tabs to a jacket that never had collar tabs, how does anyone really know when they were applied?

I think the correct answer is "you don't" and you can really only speculate.

That is what I always hated about SS uniform collecting....Too easy to restore/add insignia, and if done right,it is almost impossible to tell with absolute certainty.
