    SS-sonderkommando armband

Dear WAF-members. I have a question, not from me this time. but from a friend who does not have a account here. This is what he told me:
"This weekend I was visiting Gent (Belgium) for a family visit. when me and my girlfriend walked on the local market, there was something catching my eye. This SS-Sonderkommando armband was being sold by a local. It was an older man, who did not had any knowledge of the item. Now, my question: Can anyone tell me if it is an original one? And what the value of this item may be?

I hope anyone can help me.
    Kind regards, Roy"

    mvg,
    Jurgen

    Hello Jurgen,

in my opinion this item is a fake.
The spelling "Sonderkomando" is also wrong.

In the land of the blind, the one eyed man is king.

Duct tape can't fix stupid, but it can muffle the sound.

The "Waffen SS 15W" stamp is an absolute klassic......

These "SS Sonderkomando" (sp) armbands, along with their numerous variations (e.g. the "Sonderkommando Trawniki Warschau" armbands which are marked with a reproduction "Der SS-und Polizeiführer im Distrikt Warschau" stamp of much better quality then the "Waffen SS" one on this band) have been circulating for many decades (and then some).

Rest assured that the only thing "real" with these "SS Sonderkommando" armbands is the yellowing from all the cigarette / cigar smoke they have absorbed over the years while being flogged at Militaria Shows...

            Fantasy piece

There is at least one seller who regularly appears in the Ghent fleamarket just off the square with many questionable items. SS Daggers, Grand Crosses and so on plus horrible soft castings of most TR awards

It seems his crap is slowly spreading to the other sellers there.

            Regards

yeah, that's a pretty blatant error.
