Controversal ring. I would say it's a fake but CG thinks it was resized. Don Boyle thinks it's a repro too.

These kind of prices are crazy high. Do people really plunk that kind of cash down? Do they know what a prudent collector could aquire with that kinda' cash?

In answer to the original question, the Himmler signature on the Von Salisch ring is very different from the style used on all originals I've ever seen, and very different from Himmler's actual signature. Also, the ring appears to have been resized or something at the back of the ring. Just use "SEARCH" on the top right of the page and type in "totenkopfring". There are plenty of examples of originals, or even go on the original seller's website, and you'll see other rings with the more standard style of Himmler's signature.

I guess I'm not up with the cost of things?
I've just seen that Charlie Sheen's hooker in the Plaza Hotel cost $12,000 for the night. I think I would rather have a nice & riight HR ring and a thousand bucks left over instead of a vapid girl for a night.

....of course ask me again one odd day and I may have a different answer.

I think I'd rather have the chick for the night than that HR for a liftime.......

Analyzed with X-Ray Fluorescence??.... Well, why didn't you SAY SO?? That sheds an entirely different light on the whole subject. Maybe it should be MORE than $12,000 then, since it's named to a secret agent. Doppel Null Sieben.

And while we're on the subject of X-Ray Fluorescence, was this fluorescence able to determine why the band looks like it's made in 3 pieces?

Looks like the dealer states in his description of the ring.. Well... here is a quote from the description.

"Whatever the explanation, the ring is 100% unaltered post 1945. Still, due to this aspect of the piece, I have set the price accordingly."

reading this I gather the ring was made post 1945 and never altered? LOL!

I thought so! I was blown away no one picked up on this in the first place!

I use XRF testing at work. All it can do is identfy the alloy that the ring is made from and allow you to compare it to the alloy of "known good" rings.
