SS Helmet Cover - Post war remake!

This is a post-war remake that the seller claims he made from original material...

Do you think its the correct pattern for original material?

The material is original and "proper" for a type 2 reproduction.

        Hi, thanks for the reply.

I think he said he used a very ragged zeltbahn to make it up.

It is very cheap, would you think it a worthwhile purchase? I am considering it.

I know people suppliment their collections with good post-war manufactured items, just wasnt sure if this should be one of them.

Hi, what is the most you would pay for it?

Being that its original material, is over $200 too steep?

I have seen them going for up to 500 usd when made from original material.

There is a US based reenactors supplier who made a run and sold them for the prices mentioned, as far as I remember they sold quite well. Quality, just as with "yours", wasn't outstanding.

You can likely buy them for less also, I never really cared for that question, all I am saying is that such were sold for that amount some years ago.

When a good one goes for min 7k, one can see why a good "repro" might be desirable, I dont' have 7-10k for one at the moment, so why not? Counter argument, it only feeds the repro guys eating up good zelts to make these, but then, so does the high price of originals, so take your pic. Not all of us have the coin to drop that kind of cash on one of these, and hope it is a good one. Personally, unless I found one quite perfect and a one looker, I"d buy the repro, but, that's just me, most will disagree. I consider myself a serious collector, but at 49, I've done without a LOT in my life to build my collection, and the years are slipping away Still, the smock and cover pretty much typify and just render a fantastic picture of the SS on the eastern front, Kurst, or NOrmandy in 44, which no repro can capture.

As you say, you could lay out 7k and it could end up being bad...
