        if i owned it and it was in question whether it was originally sewn i'd have to pull a few threads, if not originally sewn, i'd remove, but still be happy with eagle!!
        otherwise, as said, i'd always wonder, and this would spoil the piece for me!
        only my personal opinion....

          I think this eagle has a good chance to be a period sewn eagle. The style of sewing is rather bad and can sometimes be seen on late war eagles. Hasty work when the bombs rained over Germany and time for elegant atatchments were gone. I have seen other sleeve eagles with straight stitches. Rather more often on BeVo eagles but also on a few wool backed ones. The stitches seems rather well sunk into the cloth as well.
          From the sellers description is was saved post war as a cut off from a badly mothed tunic.

          I would absolutely not try to remove it...
