    Looking for a SS Helm.

Since I can't get a real answer on the helmet forum I'll post it here.

Now I bet this post should get some weird looks. I'm trying to find a SD SS Helm. for around $1000, and I would like the decal in to be in pretty good shape. The model of the helmet doesn't matter. Maker and shell condition don't really matter, but I would still like a little visible paint. Is this too much to ask for?

Im far from an expert of SS helms, but I do know that $1000 would barely pay for the liner + chinstrap.

You wont get much if any change from $6000 - $10000 for a good condition SD SS Helm.

I think original SS militaria is in a price bubble, much like Australian Houses at the moment...

      Greetings,

Given your description, you'd be looking at a relic, where the decal may still be so-so, but the shell corroded with traces of paint. Those can still be found for around $1,000, mainly ground dug from Eastern European countries.

The average SS SD Helmet in decent condition in today's market sells between $5,000 - $6,000.

      Good Luck,

      Asper

You can get a Chained SS Dagger or officers degan in the 6-10K range. I'm not a helmet guy but it seems strange a SD SS helmet would have the same value. Kirby

That is a outstanding use of terminology.
I plan on using it from now on, if you dont mind.

You can have your girlfriend/wife wear the SS helmet when she's on the back of your Harley - much more practical and sexy than a chained dagger......

Thanks to your wife Paul for letting me illustrate the point.
