    SS (TK) Honor rings

Why are TK rings so expensive ? Are they all expensive or does it depend on who TK was warded too ? What was the criteria for a SS man to be awarded a TK ? Was it Himler who desided who was warded one ? Were they allways warded to the participant my himler him self ? . I have part of a SSOA file of a low rank SS man that was awarded a TK which is why i ask these questions.
    Thanks for any help
    Kind regards
    Rob.

I think they are expansive, and thus constantly increasing in value, because of their limited number in production, something like 20000 between 1933 and 1944,Himmler started it as a personal gift, but later it become a true onorificence award, that is why is also very famous.Of course value it's increasing if it's a named peice to a known ss member, as happens in all fields of collecting.Interesting the story about your file, it could be interesting for study to know which date your NCo's was awarded this ring, it's late war? Lot of more qualified opinion i am sure will follows.

    Regards,
    Salvatore

Rob, you didn't read closely my answers about your dagger in that thread. Here is what I wrote. First: " USF. Ludwig Elsaesser, St. 41, SS # 4212 (1936 DAL), TK ring, born 1.08.03. " Then: "Aside from the info I quoted above your inquiry, his NSDAP membership number was 299 443, he had the SA sport badge and he was promoted on 9.11.35. I am sure he can be found in the 1937 and 1938 DAL and perhaps he made SF?"

Your man received his TK ring before the printing of the 1936 SS Dienstalterliste. I did not look in any later issues. I can't remember the publishing date of the 1935 Dienstalterliste and if I had checked it and did not find him. But I think you can be cetain that he received an early ring.
