    skull ring

Anyone have any thoughts on this skull ring, as far as originality? supposedly battle site found. Marked 800 but on the outside. Thanks

The ebay ring. 800 on the outside is a no, no for german rings. If it is a good one, i doubt that, then it could be also a russian or another foreign ring, but surely not a german ring.

Cast junk I'm afraid, perhaps based on an original ring but not original OR silver I'll wager.

        ring

I agree that the ring was cast in a fashion to imitate a die-struck ring. He does appear to be a happy little fellow, though!!

              Ring

I'm not an expert, but I like this one a lot more. Weren't all, or most of the period skull rings die-struck (not cast) like this one appears to be?

R1,, that is a good well known pattern.. But the ring looks like a fake.
Soft mushy, shallow details, uneven band, thick band, that might be pitting all over it from the cast.. In my opinion from the photos provided it looks like a copy..

The second shown ring is a molded fake, too. Even the ringband alone tells us enough. Not comparable to an original ring of this pattern.

                        - it is a good well known pattern. Needs a light brushing / wash, some better photos etc. It stands way better chance than the other 2 you've shown..
