    Heydrich's ribbon bar!

    Hello,

I needed a replica ribbon bar that Reinhard Heydrich wore for a project i'm working on. It took a while to find someone who could acommidate me, but Mike Holverson (The Marshall's Baton) either built or had this made one for me. Personally I am amazed at the quality and attention to detail that this this replica bar exhibits.

anyway I thought I might share it with you guys as i view it as a work of art, and figured that a few of you gent's might like to see how it turned out.....

I know you guys hear this ofter but the camera does not do this justice for instance the forth ribbon from the left looks as though it is baggy, loose, two waves in it, but that is an effect from the lighting, it is similar to the glare that fine silk gives off from certain angles...

I like it. what do you guys think?

A superb and excellent quality reproduction. Out of interest, what is the project that you are working on? Regards, Clive.

a very good friend has been going to school for filming and directing for quite a while now and is finally graduating . We both have been interested in military history from a very young age . Well he has to do some sort of short documentary for His final exam or something. Long story short...... I have been told by many more Than just him that I greatly resemble old Reinhard. My mom say's I'm about a 95% identical copy of him physically and especially in the face. So anyway I'm going to play Heydrich in his documentary. To tell you the truth I'm not sure what I signed up for! however he asked me to build the uniform as close to authentic as I could get it..... So that's the just of it.

I am very happy with this small but imlortant component. It is more than satisfactory for what I need it for. Not to mention that i have become quite enthused about building this complete Heydrich uniform. It is not easy! I"ll tell you that! but it is great fun for me anyway!

I wish i could find some more and better reference material on him especially photos of him in uniform.... But I work with what I have!

Very interesting John, thank you for your explanation and wish you luck with your project. After visiting Prague some years back and having interest in Heydrich's assassination, especially the SOE trained Czech Agents, I planned to put together a display at our Museum. I did not get too far with this, but bought a neat set of replica insignia, but no medal ribbons, both connected with Heydrich and the Czech's. Perhaps when you have put your impression together you will post images of the finished project, would be great to see. All the best, Clive.

Nice quality !! Here's a pic of Heydrich with "this" ribbon bar and another pic where he does have 2 ribbon bars.

As a side note look good at the catch. Many dealers sell this type of bar as period. They are all fake. Fortunately Mike is an honest guy. It is a good job.

The first pictures you posted is earlier which shows one ribbon bar with a left fighter clasp above it. There is only one bar In that photo.

The second photo shown is later in his life closer to his assination and indeed shows two bars with the left fighter clasp above both bars.

The bar that I have is an exact replica from his earlier career in the SS/SD.

                          That's what I'm going for.....

100% Agreed.... Mike is a good guy. Hey helped me out with more Than just the bar. I'm talking about knowledge, history, and facts...... He also steered me away from the dishonest custom gabardine uniform tailors and told me who to trust.....

but yes I believe this bar could easily be sold to some of the more novice collectors to pass as authentic..... Good thing he's not on that level.......
