Mike , I still think they are not good.The type you posted for comparison ( the OK one ) is IMO the right pattern for this type of cyphers and I don't think that we can find variations between the same pattern of cyphers.
Just my opinion

I disagree. Just look how the quality of the SS embroidered eagles deteriorated as the war progressed. Things changed from 1940 to 1945 and all insignia were not made by the same manufacturer to the same quality.

I agree but I don't think this is the case .The one Mike had used as comparison is a well known original pattern and if you look at the shape is always the same for this pattern.There were two other original types of cyphers but the embroidery and shape are different from the pattern we are speaking of.

IMHO, the cyphers that you posted at the begining of this thread are not original. I have studied these in depth a while back and even as the war progressed, IMO, the quality was still there. I have posted several original cyphers to compare to. The last two are the mid to even late war styles. You can see that the quality is still there. The picture of the last one with the zig-zag stitching on the edges are the types that were found by veterans at the Dacau supply depot. I have acquired several of these personally from the veterans themselves along with numorous other Dacau SS cloth. Every veteran all said the same thing. They were found in large storage bins. You will see that there is still a tight weave and the shape is consistant. The second to the last pic, you will see ever so slightly differences, but still have the same characteristics as the others.

Some have said that (ones at the start of this thread) is a so called "variant" or "different manufacturer", which, who knows, that might be right, but I ask you, which do you prefer ? variant or textbook ? Especially, when dealing with investment and when it comes time to re-sell. I sold a nice matched set last year at the MAX show, so I would suggest to pass on these and be patient. There are real textbook ones out there. Gus V. from Texas had a couple real sets with boards. They were a bit high in price, but they were one-lookers! regards, Grant

the LAH on top on the topic are copys for my view, also one detail is very common to see on copy LAH embroidery, and there is this detail also shown.
