I got this belt+buckle from my grandfather. It is a field Grey RODO Buckle and it was worn until the Grey color faded away (belt is stamped 1942).

He was able to hide it when he got captured by the allies in 1945 and brought it back home from the war together with some other items.

He had worn this belt+buckle from 1942 on when he started to serve as a gunner in a tank III (later tank IV) in the Panzerregiment 5 / Wiking.

He celebrated his 91 birthday one month ago and he is still very activ in his garden and in good mental health.

The buckle+belt is now on Display with my tank wrap / trousers.
That's a nice thing to have from your Grandfather. Is your Wiking wrap display a tribute to him?

Yes it is and he is very happy that I am really much interested in his combat/war history. I did as much Research about the tank Regiment 5 as possible and wrote down all his memories from the war and completed it with the informations from Ewald Klapdors Book "In the East with the tank Regiment 5"

My grandfather was always a very important Person for me. He teached me a lot of usefull things for life.

Excellent! Has your grandfather told you his story? Record it! Write it down! Soon they are all gone...

That´s a nice one! Any story behind it?

No. It is an unissued late war wrap. Except for the originally sewn eagle, the remainder of the insignia is not sewn to the uniform.

Here are are my right facing runes. I may post it in other thread, but I thought it fit here because it is one of my favorites.
