i think it is period made... the most convincing thing is this remains of leather piece ... hard like stone.. what is difficult reproduce in such state... and I found photo of soldier in similar cap...

Images are from book written by latvian volunteer.. so it is not photo shop and fake picture

shields for Askold . I am not sure in number 3. Although I saw images of this pattern.. I remember photo album with great insignia shots what was sold
on Hannahs Reich .. it was image of tunic with latvian shield and Reinhard Heydrich cufftitle. It looks like this one... I can be wrong... I would be nice if owner will post this great image...

Thank you for the photos Alex, excellent shields! The only one I'd worry about would be the very last one - I am not very comfortable withe the shields where word Latvia is printed.

P.S. Do you have the photos of the album saved? Would be very interesting to see a uniform with Reihard Heindrich cuff and latvian shield!

Askold you can be right, or may be not... With ref to shields...I try to acquire shields what are go directly from families or if is recognized original. Plus I try to find pictures of such shield on tunic.. Please see 2 shields on tunic..they look like mine... Of course it is not 100% prove that shield is period made... This prove just fact that similar shields exist, but it has chances..

Unfortunately I do not have images. Album was sold in couple of hours and images was removed.

I was in Kurland thus year on safari on the frontlines. Great museum in Riga, and I was stunned how long you guys fight Stalin after the war with help from CIA. Some SS vollentairs with their weapons and equipment resisted up to the 50`s, right?
