    Sepp Dietrich

One of my new favorites to my "Leibstandarte" collection !

Neck-ribbon worn by Oberstgruppenführer and Generaloberst der Waffen-SS "Sepp Dietrich" for his Knight's Cross with Oakleaves, Swords and Diamonds.

Captured from the Dietrich estate in May 1945 by U.S. troops together with the other well know Dietrich artifacts.

          Steve and Roberto!

          Thanks for your compliments!

For sure the highest price ever paid for an EK 2 ribbon,
but damn, a very fine piece of this LAH/Waffen-SS icon!

          Dietrich stuff just rocks!

              Hi Gaspard!

              Thanks for your kind words.

I did not want to stress the monetary part.
I only meant to make fun of myself in a way.

The real importantance lays in the true historic
value of this more than simple artifact.

Very nice Markus, did you get the silver box the band was in to?

No, it's a nice box, but I just didn't know what to do with it.
I got one of the 'birds' still though.

True, better to display the ribbon like you have done, instead of hiding it away in the box.

The eagle is indeed amazing. The great thing with it is that you don't really need a story on it to tell who it belonged to.

Congratulations on those stunning items, which without any doubt fit's your collection perfectly

The cool thing about the ribbon is that you'll find it frequently on photos.
This morning I found a couple (small ones though) in Charles Trang's "Leibstandarte Archive":

Sepp at a command post with the sun shining and his tunic's collar open.
The KC and ribbon just dangling down.

In another shot Sepp is seen lifting his right collar up and closing the ribbon's hook and eye system.

The way the ribbon is designed, it allows him to open the tunic's collar and still leave the KC dangling, instead of opening two strings on the back of his neck and having to take the whole decoration off completely.

                      Cheers!
                      Markus

                        Hello Markus,

but where do you know that belongs to Dietrich ?

                        Best.

                          Hi!

The fact that it came together with Sepp's greatcoat, winterjacket,
visor cap, blood order, golden insignias (I have one of the eagles),
various other items, it's seen in wear on numerous period photographs
and has been sitting in this world's most important militaria collection
for many, many years is good enough for me!

                          Gruesse!

Sorry, I missed that-who's collection was it in?
His Blood order is in Austria.

Probably the Wolfe Hardin collection. They seem to have a fair chunk of it.

I know they don't have Sepps Blood order,it was in a private collection in Austria. Unless they have a duplicate.
