13 Div SS Tunic and badges - Good or bad?

Hello again,

I would appreciate your informed opinions on the tunic which I picked up. I gather now, that it is a Heer pattern tunic as it has six buttons and three belt loop holes. As you can see, it has the insignia of the Croation SS on one sleeve. Inside the pocket was the breast eagle and collar tabs. Upon inspecting the tunic, you can see threads where all the insignia was sewn on to the tunic at one time.

So, is all or some of this good?

As I stated in the other thread on this tunic, the sleeve chevron is a replica IMO. The handshar tab also looks pretty rugged - too loose of stitching to be an original.

I'm confused on the lining, however. The liner shot in the other thread is NOT the same liner shown in this one. The liner in this thread is definately inside of a replica tunic.

Did you mix up your postings? This liner - posted in your other thread - is the one to which my comments regarding originality were directed.

I do not find any of the insignia - on or off tunic - convincing ..

The supportholes & collar reverse just make me want to cry - sorry , it may be because I have seen some originals in my time .. ?

Thanks for your comments. I am not a collector of German material so really enjoy the opportunity to learn. Don't worry, my investment wasn't anything tragic!

The liner is in fact the same as the other pic. The first one just looked really washed out as the light was poor when I took the shot.

Geoff, they are not the same - you've got something mixed up. One liner (and the jacket skirt) has holes and small tears in it, and the worn original one has no belt support straps while the replica one does. The lateral seam across the small of the back is also absent on the replica one.

No big thing, but if the liner with no belt support straps is in a jacket you're looking at buying, then the tunic could be real. If it is the liner with the support straps, no chance.

You are correct. The mothed up liner is not mine. I actually thought you posted that one? Anyhow, my liner is the intact one.
