I would of thought the grey issue shirt,a veteran of the 16th pz gren Reichsfuhrer SS told me,when he was in Italy,he wore long woolen underwear, woolen tunic and trousers and only wore their smocks at night to keep warm.If I wanted to 'wind'him up,only had to say "what about all nice tropical kit RFSS got in Italy",god! the air turned blue

We had two vets on our display at W&P,Gerd Krassner Das Reich, radio operator in Tiger2,although due to illness that was his last appearence at a show.On saturday we had a visit from Manfred Thorn,Pz4 tank driver LSSAH,the Pz4 on our display is painted in his markings and his signiture is on the side of the tank.

          SS vet

          Hi Collector,
Your SS vet pal wasn't Fred Walker from Reading was it?
If I remember, his name was originally Fritz Wacker and I think he produced a small book of his wartime career.
I haven't seen him about for the last few Beltring shows.
          Regards,
          Grossfuss
