Is this a legitimate tab backing?

I am contemplating on purchasing a pair of tabs, but I am not sure about the backing - I never seen such type before. Can someone tell me if:

1. the backing is ok
2. the bullion piping is ok

How can you tell from one bad photo? Please take several pictures and sunlight it would really help a lot.

As far as collar backing material, buckram is preferred but I have seen everything used from Bakelite plastic, cardboard, postcards, newspaper, medical gauze bandages and even metal.

This type of backing has been around for many years and is used almost exclusively on fakes. From the looks of the backs of these tabs and the piping, they look as if they were made last week.
