My first thought too unless alterations were done then? But why the sloppy sewing job?
The tabs and eagle look to have been in place for a good long time though! I am always learning! and expect this has a good chance? seems oddly quiet as for discussion so far!

I tend to balk at a tailor's label that was put on by someone who didn't know how to sew. The hand stitiching on the label is part of the tailor's "signature of quality". I would pull up the bottom R/H corner of the label and look for old stitch marks in the folded under part, as the label does look folded down from its original size.

The tunic is 100% real as for the tags who knows for sure they look ok to me. I like it and the quality is doeskin wool so it may have been retailored late in the war.

Was there a SS Officer D/Lombard awarded a DK in any of the reference books?

Gustav Lombard was a Commander in the Cavalry Regiment of the SS he was the Uncle of Actress Carol Lombard and a KC holder. Lots of uniform pics of him to search through to see if he had a tunic like this. I tend to disagree it was added post war because the label is not frayed where the threads are sewn..but thats based on just the photo I see . I would need to see it close up. Ive seen plenty of period pieces with labels poorly attached to superior quality garments.
