Help needed from all Scandanavian speaking members

I need the help of all Scandanavian speaking members as I am trying to translate the runic type writing on an old spoon I have that is made of .830 silver and made by D. Andersen (Danish).

The writing is almost totally rubbed away on the back side due to it's always rubbing on linen or a table top when laid out for use and or from cleaning.

The front reads "VERGDITLAND" and the back reads something like, " CENTRAL F(or P)ORENIN_ERS P_ _ _ _E", or something like that.

Any ideas.

Hi,

I believe the text is "Central Foreningens Premie", in English this would mean Central Association price. Verg dit land = defend your country as Lassi writes is correct. This was probably a price that some one in a competition won, probably quite old. It's Norwegian.

Central Association, eg. Central Association for Udbredelse af Legemsøvelser (physical exercise) and Vaabenbrug (shooting), founded 15 March 1861 , the first national sports organization in Norway . It worked in the beginning especially for the promotion of shooting case and the introduction of gymnastics in schools, urging further shooter teams to go for skiing and was the direct cause of the formation of the first skiing club . 1870 the association took the initiative to create the school renowned Central School (later State Gymnastics School ).

1893 was folkevæpningssamlagenes and the Central Association's shooting was merged into The National Rifle Association , and the union changed its name to simultaneously Central Association of Udbredelse af Idrætsforening . From 1890 it was established federations for individual sports, those settled in 1910 with the Central Association and formed the Norwegian National Association for Idrætsforening , with laws passed by Parliament. 1917 Central Association reported out and walked over to another business (see Know Your Country), While the National League of 1919 was reorganized as the Norwegian National Association for Sport, which in 1946 was merged with the Workers' Sports Association (founded 1924) to the Norwegian Sports Association .
