    dug ss cover clip

I have this clip, though simple enough to an SS collector, to a camo collector it's real cool; basically a dug clip from a set with the cover material remnant still attached.
    Been there I'd say.

That´s definitely a 100% original Ground Dug Clip!

I dug out those ones several times.. I can´t understand some Guys, who have obviously no dust, thinking everything from the SS is automatically a fake item. If you don´t know, sometimes it´s better to be silent

Enclosed a Pic of Clisps I´ve dug out for comparison (I sold them a few weeks ago to a WAF member).

            Kind Regards

            Andy

              Hi Andy,

I also have 3 original Aluminum clips - I was very surprised to find one of them has a rocker that is made out of steel.

Mine are still covered with dirt - could you let us know how you cleaned your clips.

              Thanks
              Mark

                Hi Mark,
                Nice to meet you here

The Clips I´ve ever found has been always complete aluminium made examples. Nevertheless Steel Clips did exist. I never dug them maybe my Detector discriminated them. The Aluminium "Clisps" from the Photo just been cleaned with Water, soap and a brush. Please make a Pic of yours, if it is a steel example, it will be not easy to clean them successfully. In many cases it´s enough to clean them also with water and a dandy brush and spray it with WD40 after drying..

                Kind Regards

                Andy

Yes, that is not unheard of, I once had an oak type one cover that had such clips.

                    HI Andy,
Nice to meet you as well. Thanks for the cleaning advice - much appreciated.

Unfortunately, I left the clips in Hong Kong and Im back in Vancouver for a month or so so cant post a photo. I was super lucky to get these on ebay so best I can do is post the link here - hope that is ok.

                    http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...#ht_500wt_1034

The center clip has the steel rocker - clearly seen by the rust ball. I think there isnt much left of the rocker itself - being highly oxidized. It will likely just fall apart if I try to clean that part but the aluminium on them isnt too bad.

Perhaps this is why there arent many steel clips dup up at this point 70 years after the war - they've just rusted to nothing.

                    Cheers
                    Mark

Thanks Fritz - good to know there were others out there. Makes them all the more credible.

                        Hi Mark,
I know, Dirk told me that you´re in Canada right now.
The ebay Photos are good enough. the Condition seems very Corroded..but for 1 Euro it´s a very attractive Price, indeed. I would clean them as well, better for examination. Enclosed another Pic of a Set of mine..

                        Regards

Correct - they are pretty corroded, regardless I couldnt believe the 1 euro - I will clean them when I get back to HK and post a pic then.

Yours are in super shape - did you dig these yourself - where? Was wondering how deep they were?

                            Kind regards

Yes, thanks all for the good comments. And yes, I agree, valuable to fakers...that's why we must stay educated and vigilant. These are hitting the market (great pieces for education) so guys look close if you buy an expensive cover...look for matching wear, springs etc....
