Opinions needed on an early A-SS

The eagle is actually not SS, but period photos show "other branch" eagles were sometimes worn by the SS. Carefully check the lining for previous holes. If there are none, there's a good chance the insignia is original to the cap, and I'd leave it there. If there are other holes, it's probably a post war replacement. I think it's unlikely the wearer would make such a switch. The original SS eagle could have been the 1st or 2nd pattern. Extra holes will tell the tale.

You might find one for slightly less, but I think you'd be looking for a some time, especially since this has the bonus of the black RZM tag under the sweat shield.
