    Photo of SS Uscha in FJ smock!

    I also placed this photo in the Photo and Paper Forum but reckoned it would have some impact here as well.

    The subject is a Dutch W-SS member who's photo is published in a nice little book covering SD and SIPO in the Netherlands. Apparently this SS men started his career in the W-SS in '41 and was transferred to the SD in the NL after getting wounded. He subsequently also took part in the fighting around Arnhem in '44.

    A few aspects about this photo are worth mentioning: the FJ knochensack he is wearing with attached SS-shoulder straps and the TK- collar tab, this since he was of course no member or part of Div.Totenkopf or TK Rgt. Another Photo in the same book shows him as a EM and wearing the regular SS collar tab with runes but with a TK tab on his left collar as well!!

    ...who would not pass on a tunic when offered like that..

      This photo appears to have been published in a book. It is fair game....

      Very cool photo! It appears he is wearing a M40 splinter step in smock worn over his SS uniform. SS shoulder straps do indeed appear to have been added to the smock.

      I copied this thread in the FJ forum as I am sure most would like to see this, and may miss it here.

          Nice photo...It seems soldiers from several branches upgraded FJ smocks,not only for camoflauge but they also probably liked all the large pockets.

            As mentioned in my thread; it origines from the the book 'SIPO en SD in Twente' and I have on purpose restricted to one photo only.. I have no doubt the author would mind a little free publicity of his great book.

              Some of the SD in Holland seem to have been a flamboyant lot ;
              Here's a member in Heerenveen ( from " FRIESLAND 1940-1945 " ) with a custom-made zippered jacket - note that same white scarf as in the first picture , and cloth-billed crusher ..

                    The nicest photo I have ever seen was in a private dealer collection some years ago in Germany. A full standing studio portrait of one SS soldier, with helmet and smock plus clearly visible his SS EM buckle.
