    Late war SS eagles

Nice role of late war eagles. They look like embroidered versions of the printed type. Dave.

I have never seen this pattern RZM eagle. While I have not seen it all, I suspect these are not original based on poor execution and complete departure from standard wing design.

        I hope I'm wrong - s/f Robert

That's an oddly short wing span.... and there's no feet detail as like the printed ones,
which do have a shorter than normal wing span...

How do these compare to the late war style that look like these on Bill Shea's site? I know the ones on his site came with a bunch of SS cloth (I know the provenance of the grouping and the guy that found them--out of New England vet attic) and they look so crude that they are a hard sell but I think them okay, take a look at Bill's if you get a chance. I know one of the top SS guys does not like the style, but I think them a very limited run and the few around from Dachau,

Is it just my impression or the visual effect is very similar to that one of the officers hand embroidered eagles?

                  A few points to consider:

                  - Look at the vertical lines I've drawn at the edges of the wing lines in red: original eagles all arc

                  - Observe the irregular spacing of the horizontal wing lines: original eagles have uniform distances between lines, and the lines are parallel. These lines are way off.

                  - the eagle body has no true fletching, and a badly misshapen head and swastika. The "armpit" fletching should be a smooth, even arc from feet to wing - these are jagged, uneven, and LOOPED instead of solid feathers.

I believe these are replicas. Even the printed birds were symetrical.

                  regards, Robert
