SS vase

Hello all,

had a question of SS vase, it has the tyr rune, oak leaf, (2x) sigal rune), and spans around near the bottom. On the bottom has "zum Geburtstag" and OA. I am curious on the situation of why this item would be presented and who it would be presented to also. thank you in advance.

As far as I know this has been a presentation piece in use by Gottlob Berger - if I am not mistaken the piece ought to have a dedication with his signature/name on it´s bottom.
I believe that a whole set of dinnerware was designed and perhaps a piece like the vase as itself was used as a presentation piece as well as the whole dishes.
Definitely not a common piece and - like many art objects of the period in general and SS in particular - highly underestimated within collector´s scene.

I agree with Thorsten,that TR art in general is an under appreciated sub branch of militaira collecting. If one could see the meaning, history and culture behind such pieces they would be held in higher regard by collectors IMO.

Its a pretty sick history though. Millions of innocent people were murdered by those fiends. Not a culture and history most want to embrace.

History is what it is: history.

Every nation and country - mine and yours - has to face history.

What one has to realize is that the NS-leaders believed that they will have to go through what you call "pretty sick history" to move into a better time for them - by blasting those people whom they blamed to be guilty of the downfall of the Deutsches Reich.
That was called the final solution of the jewish question and was one but not the only pillar of their agenda - roughly to define within the process of creating a frank, powerful and independent Deutsches Reich they discussed and defined how to shape a strong young Reich for never being beaten by enemies from outside and inside again - not even once again.

This was - by the way - not only discussed by "the Nazis" but among many different parts of the society - way before 30.01.1933!

More and more people in Germany were not happy about and not used to democracy - and especially not to one that was constantly held under enormous pressure of the "winners" of WW1.
Germany became a warehouse for these winners and they went in droves into it for grabbing the best pieces and whatever they thought was useful - and left without paying.
Instead of that the Reich and it´s german inhabitants had to pay until 1988 as they defined, if they could not pay because it was needed to let the people live - France sent troops and directly occupied the most efficient regions like the Saar and the Ruhrgebiet.

In other words: democracy appeared only as an evil experiment guided by the Reich´s enemies and without any chance to become an independent and full-fledged nation.

Therefore the most successful election poster was finally a grey and dark mass of poor people, looking desperately and combined with the short and very effective slogan:

"Unsere letzte Hoffnung - HITLER!"

Thorsten it almosts eems that you are trying to make exscuses. Their agenda was world domination and aniliation of Jews. By the way what did Jews, Gypsies, and Gays do to the Germans? Lets face it the nazis were pathetic, anyone who supports them or feels the need to make excuses needs to see a pychiatrist.

My view is not politically but historically motivated - I am not a politician nor am I in need of any excuses for anything that happened long before I was born.

Fact is: if one is not able to separate a look on history from any (in the worst case politically motivated) judgement of today that one´s goal is not even the attempt to examine rather than understand history as a whole and in specific.

Why else am I confronted with the idea that I try to make excuses for what had happened once in history?

I am looking at, examining and by that try to understand the history of the Drittes Reich - actually that´s why I am here in this forum - I want to learn.

If one wants to solve a crime he has to put his main focus on the killer and his motivation to kill and not on the victim - if he does it the other way round the killer will kill again.

To get back to the topic and the vase:
