    SS Sun hat shields

I have a couple of sun hat shields and I would like opinions about their authenticity. If you need more pics, please let me know.
    - the one with the runes is marked F.P. 1942
    - the one with the national emblem is marked J.F.S. 43

    Thanks,
    Resaw

    The runic shield is bad.

The national shield appears to be authentic, but looks repainted.

I must agree with Peter M. Both are bad. Every original I have seen are marked JFS and either 42 or 43.

I have attached a pair that I am completely comfortable with originality.

Nice matched pair Bob...and yes I do mean the shields. Excellent insignia as always, thanks!

I still can find little fault with the national shield, but I have never studied these in any great detail.

The crimped pins on the reverse of the national shield [which, in case someone missed it, is on the left of the lower photo (opposite of the front photo above)] look fairly convincing to me. Besides the somewhat blunt pins, which also seem a bit odd to be made of aluminum, what are the telltale flaws?

I read on another thread a while back that aluminium fakes had been made, marked as this one is. I think it should not be aluminium by this date and also the pebbling does not appear on its reverse. Also, is it a little bit too rounded? Be good to get the tells fixed in my memory if possible. I'll reread the other thread and maybe learn enough from that.
