It's rayon, known also as viscose or artificial silk. All BEVo insignias are woven on a rayon base with rayon thread. The silky shiny feeling of the fabric is the main characteristic. This set of insignia is fairly clean and retain its peculiar shine and smoothness. Heavily worn examples are often worn down and saturated with dirt from field use that over decades results in a dull toned finish.
