Interesting SD uniform image

This image published in a war time US Army TM, shows a US service member in 1945 modeling a late war captured SD uniform.

What's of interest is that it appears to be a Heer pattern 6 button M43 wool uniform (as opposed to a 5 button SS pattern).

Who would have trusted that uniform in modern days?

These are "SS Panzergrenadier Regiment 24 ”Danmark" troops (Nordland Div) in Croatia...

(cap with Heer eagle is probaly also a Heer conversion as commonly seen with Germanic volunteers)

I think we all realize that Heer tunics were converted to SS. The problem is, there is no way to tell when this conversion was made. 1930's, 1940's, or 3 months ago.

I agree. Still fun to show photographic proof of war time conversion examples and it appears to have occurred
more often in Germanic / volunteer units.
I am not saying it was prevalent in Nordland but the uniform in Krawcyk's book (Post 4 here) stands a chance
and with the Baltic volunteers it occurred a lot also...

So tunics badged to represent those units could stand a better chance... I guess that's what my message is...
but I admit that 9 out of every 10 SS tunics is most likely rebadged, so the odds are not that good
for a Heer-SS conversion to be the real McCoy....

Finding a war time example of an SD badged uniform (1st post) that started life in the WH is even scarcer I bet.
That was a first for me finding photographic proof of this occurance, so I decided to start this "6 button" post!
