just re read your post, No the 4 pocket was a uniform, you will find the service shirt under it, no other tunic...my screw up

Personaly, I already seen in period foto 4 pockets tunics under M44 dot camo tunics. I will try to find them.

I think this was fairly common in cold weather. There is a picture of a wounded SS soldier in Normandy clearly wearing both tunics...

This reminds me of the pictures by Capa of the GvB personnel taken prisoner by the 2d (?) US Armd Divison. There was at least one wearing this combination.
