Do you suppose her population would enjoy the task of subsidizing ill managed, bankrupt Mediterranean nations ?

          Hello
Some countries should have never been allowed to join the EU and some should just be kicked out , sort out your own problems , then you may be allowed back in when you are done .
This new notion of " bailing out " anyone or anything failing financially or economically is bound to complete and utter failure , very shortly . How much money can you throw at problems before it blows in your face .
All this is more like trying to fix a leak in a dam with your finger !!! I hope you got yourselves ready for a long and painful swim !!! .
          Regards
          P-Y

looks your family debt, looks your banks... than you could open mouth about Europe.

            Don't worry... it's only speculation.

just arrived yesterday in Germany and all I can say I don´t care, good pick ups and good food. Just went to one bakery shop and thought I am in paradise with their offerings and quality. Germany I think you will see me living there again after 9 years in the US ... but we will see it´s always and will be always mixed up ...

an interesting exchange, even if maybe not in the apropriate forum.
varaitions between US $ and euro value are "normal".
but i'm sure of one thing : when US $ is strong, it is good for US buyers who pay with this money, but mainly with european pro dealers.
in another hand, if they try to purchase items with private sellers, then they will have to pay almost same prices than when US $ had a lower value,
because european sellers belienve they CAN pay, and will not easyly accept to drop their prices facing a "rich" potential buyer.
for instance, if an american tourist/collector come in France in june, in Normandy, i hightly doubt he will be able to have bargain deals in local shows with french private sellers...
of course, this was true in a reverse way few month ago, for instance when russians came in US shows with their big wallets full of "strong" euros...
that's the game, you just have to be ready to play with it considering your interest of the moment.
                  just my 2 cents;
                  derka

I agree food is indeed better in Europe, but lets be honest - America is still the best! I spent over three months last year over there. Interesting - yes, beautiful - yes, but for live I am sure you like America better too.

Please, no arguing between Europe, England and/or America. They all have Good and Bad qualities, neither is better in more ways. It will always be that way, no matter how "proud" one feels. Relativity my friends, relativity.

The idea of this thread was to get people hunting for good militaria(SS) bargains and sellers to get their price.

                      Cheers!

(p.s., maybe wrong forum, but still interesting discussion)

Pride or patriotism has nothing to do here as I am not American, but I've lived here for nearly 20 years and can compare it with the rest of the world and say "America - you are the best!"

John, these problems is not a big deal really and they will be solved. All other countries have much more and more serious problems.
P.S. I could get U.S. citizenship 15 years ago, for some lazy reason never applied .

Heh, Robert, are you sure about going back? I think deep inside you like the marshes of SE MI more than the wooded hills of Franconia

On a personal level I am a bit lost here, do I now have to worry about the collapsing EUR and the demise of the EU, or do I still have to worry about the collapsing $ and the demise of the US, see threads posted not so long ago? Or am I better off worrying about both?
