SS Armband - real? fake? opinions please

Hello,

Ive kept this armband for quite a while and I would like to know what you guys think.
3 piece construction
I can see where the rzm tag was but was taken off. etc
Shows aging and it really smells old as well.

Real or fake?

For the edification of myself and others, please elaborate on the red wool material. Wool armbands that I've seen don't generally have such an obvious grain. Usually, there's virtually no grain at all unless the nap is worn off. Is this just a variant type of wool?

Salty ones can lose their wooly nap. This one is a bit unusual in that it has lost its nap so uniformly. And the scorching does not appear natural. It was probably done when someone tried to iron the roundel. I think this is a genuine armband that has been messed with. Better examples can easily be found.
