    SS Officer's Tropical Sleeve Eagle??

    Good day Gentlemen,

Can anyone tell me if there were ever any SS officer's tropical sleeve eagles produced during the war? I am restoring a stripped Saharian tunic to an officer's type and am not sure how to proceed. I know there were tropical enlisted / NCO BEVO eagles produced, and that originals sell for a few hundred dollars, but what did officer's use? Was there an Officer's version of the tropical eagle made, or did they simply use the enlisted type or the regular black-backed silver wire type?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Cheers,

    Andolf

If I'm not wrong, I believe that per regulation you should only apply the Tropical BEVo Sleeve Eagle. only the shoulderboards and rank chevrons were to show the rank held. No Collar tabs . Nevertheless I've seen several wartime picture that displayed all sorts of insignia on the sahariana in full contradiction with regulations. Let's see if someone else has better info.

Max is of course right...these came with factory applied BeVo tropical eagles worn by officers and enlisted men alike. No such thing as a tropical officers SS sleeve eagle... did not exist!
An SS officer theoretically could have replaced the beVo eagle with a silver bullion officers grade eagle, but I doubt that they would have bothered to do on such tropical field tunics...
but I agree that collar tabs and even cuff titles were indeed added by many men on Saharianas, the rank tabs often added against regulations to do so!
Otherwise (unmodified) these would have been worn only with shoulder rank insignia + factory applied tropical sleeve eagle.

That is right, IMO. No officers trop eagle was made.
