I've seen a "totenkopf" logo on binoculars, but the crude numbers lead me to believe the item is post-war embellished, whatever it is.

The book you photographed as well ... is it the French translation of 'Iron Coffins' by Herbert A. Werner ? I bought it my dad (who was a sub-chaser in the Royal Navy during WWII) he'd read it once and definately remembered chasing Werner's boat.
