    Obergruppen fuHrer collar tabs

What do yo guys think of these? The lines on the back are from dried crusted rubber bands that were around them when found. Most of the silver has corroded away on the front.

    Somewhat salty, and certainly original...

I did a search and found that there were only 71 Obergruppen fuHrer's in the Third Reich...... Any idea as to their value?

Always consider more was made then given out or worn as well.
Many soldiers kept Insignias doubled in their home drawers etc.

Based on these pictures, they wouldn't be for my collection. There are too many characteristics (particualrly on the left tab) which I don't like.

The piping is the thick, wirey kind found on the fakes from the 70's.

I agree with those who are sceptic.

                I would not buy them...

Lets see if we can nail the answer down on these as I will be either eating crow on the "barbie" this weekend................... or serving it up. I added one to compare and perhaps help.

                      The piping is totally different.

There are too many anomolies to the shape of the leaves even considering the deep corrosion to the threads. Not for me.

The different construction between the acorns, and as stated before; the piping in the first tabs posted, give me concerns.

I know the piping you're talking about, but I suspect the piping on these only looks like that from corrosion...to me, they're still original, albeit salty, tabs. I could be wrong, but that's my opinion...

I am by far no expert, and I even recognize many clear and distinct differences in technique and quality between the two examples posted . . . even considering all of the corrosion on the first example. The pair in question remind me of another pair of SS Officer tabs (albeit of a lower rank, and of different base material) I once examined - and these were unquestionably poor reproductions . . .
