Ohlau, nice to meet you here!

As I said it is war which brings forward such cruel and totally inhuman parts of a human being´s character.

And besides: this can be also noted in your comment.

I believe you would certainly never be happy about a crime like torturing someone to death - but the inhumanity of this historical figure leads you into this amoral statement and even combining that with a religious intention "Thanks to God"!

So easily one kill follows the other - I think it really needs a strong religious character to stay away from killing such a murderer - that´s what at least and not only christian religion is all about, isn´t it?

Or did I dream the bible´s content that besides Jesus two criminals were nailed on the cross?

Justice is needful but murder a murderer is not the key.

Well Thorsten, as far I know, Dirlewanger was almost always happy when he personally ordered to torture people (civilian) to death during Warsaw Uprising in 1944.

Justice ? He got the justice alone he measured which up.

There was something called "Geneva and Hague Conventions" that stated that any POW killed without trial was actually a War-crime.
If you want somebody to respect the Laws of War, you need to respect them at first otherwise it's Chaos.
Please don't go OT as usual when talking about Dirlewanger.

                        (just my 2 cents)
                        Thanks!

TK & Thorsten B., thank you for eloquently pointing out the rank hypocrisy which is a hallmark of any Dirlewanger thread here.
Either laws of war are adhered to in practice, or they are not.
In the case of the murder of Dirlewanger, they most certainly were not.
Whether individuals want to argue "he got just what he deserved" is their option, but they don't seem to realize that that attitude makes them no better than that which they claim to oppose.
Prosecute others for violation of the laws or war, then turn around and ignore them yourself when convenient for you, how nice !

While I can understand someone from Poland having no problem seeing a person such as this tortured & beaten to death, I don't think any of us would like to see a day when summary executions and vigilante justice becomes the order of the day - And condoning such actions leads to just such a mindset.

                                It's your point of view.
I'm soory, but nobody in Poland recognizes Dirlewanger as a victim of the post-war feud and injustice. Too many bad memories, and too many victims in Warsaw families.
But of course US know better Dirlewanger than citizens of Poland and Russia.
