    Cap Birds - ???

Hi , I have received two cap birds and would like your opinions on each.

Bird "A" is marked on the back under the right wing on the third feather from body ??/42. It is well oxidized that I cannot read the beginning number. This pin is flat

Bird "B" is marked in the center of the body under the point of the pins "RZM (round mark) then M1/17. This pin is slightly curved.

Thanking you in advance for your review and opinions.

    Fred

What branch of service hat would the "B" eagle be attached to?

most likely a coffee can[kepi], but could be on other early caps.

Eagle type B has been used as a political eagle either on a kepi or visor cap.
You'll also find the same design in gilt gold for a high level political leader's visor.

Needless to say, Eagle type A are for the SS.

Exhibit B eagle is for the NSFK kepi.

With all due respect, I believe the NSFK Eagle is slightly different.

However, I have certainly been wrong in the past.

I think the eagle in question has a bend to its wing which with a quick look, is why Bob may have thought it was an NSFK.

                    Nice birds~

RonR is right. The NSFK eagle has a different wing altogether.
For the political eagle (Ealge B), different makers made them with very slight variations. Some had a bent wing, while others were straight.

In the e-stand post, Fred claims that it is an "Early" political Cap Eagle. It is by no means an "early" variant. The one on e-stand is fairly common.
