I think you are right; the first generation of this pattern appeared 3 years back in Europe and it was having the numbers

this tabs stirred a lot of controversy awhile back. For the asked price I would want 100% peace of mind

True, that is common knowledge, has been stated before also by the seller of the tabs. The tabs are restored, it's no secret.

These are not good . If you search through past threads containing textbook originals on our forum you can get better at spotting the bad ones . Even so it is still good to check in for opinions as you have done.

                Hello
Thanks for your opinions, but it seems to be quite a controversial pair of tabs and considering the high value asked for it I would rather not buy them
                Thanks again
                Mat

Here's a thread where member "Hohenstaufen" (Grant) posts some really nice originals:

I believe that these tabs are different from the set discussed in this thread and was offered for sale once:
                    http://70.87.163.50/forums/showthread.php?t=390392

It is stated that they are coming from Plabst group and the cord and backing were restored by previous owner of the group. I tend to trust this dealer and his statements.

Yes, this thread also shows that the tab I had for sale back then as well as the tab shown in this thread were considered the "italian" or "french" fake, turned out that none of them is that and that in fact they are light years away from the I/F style.

Now it was suggested that they are a "new generation", I haven't seen another for sale but I meanwhile know of similar ones in a few large collections in europe.

Those reading the linked thread will see that the tabs posted by member mat in this most recent thread are from the Plabst group. To me they are originals, restored but period pieces.

Furthermore it was suggested that only "one type" a so called "no-brainer", is valid, this statement, after going through numerous period portrait pictures, holds no value to me.

I trust this dealer too but i have to say - if these were really acknowledged as being from the Plabst grouping they would have gone within seconds of being listed.

If original, they would have sold imediately if they had not been 'restored'.

This seems to be a common occurance.

                            Tabs

Yes restored. Skulls real? Yes, in my opinion. What Peter said in his item description is true. I admit my mistake regarding these Tabs. The Fotos on the Website made them very difficult to judge. Hi-res fotos made it much easier.
