    SS Officers Tabs....probe set.

    Hey

I am told these are a probe set. Have anyone had the same type of probe set up like this? And the hallmark on it can anyone read the stamp or know what it says? I can't see the backing on the tabs as they are glued on. Question, if he bullion looks CORRECT and ORIGINAL should one still remove the tab to see the back?? Also, those that might read German, on the back of the card it has a word in German I think, can someone tell? Thanks for looking and your opinions!

    Cheers and Goodnight!

          Tabs

I believe I saw these at the MAX. Regardless of their purpose on that card, they are 100% real and beautiful. I would see no need to look at the back.

I agree with Peter. Do not peel it off to look at the back.

I would think these are more "salesmans sample" or an embroiderers "this is what they should look like when you are done" example than a Probe set.

Still very unique and would certainly enhance a display.

I would agree with Jerry, there are maybe three types of the "Probe", the first type is submitted to the Main Hauptamt for approval, which has the Wax seal, special cord and signed by a authorizing party for approval , if approved a manufacturing pattern is issued ( usually for the SS a metal tag with article number or even a paper tag later in the War) and finally a salesmens sample board pattern , which this topic is showing " finished article for sale ". The first two patterns sited above seem to be pretty much of a standard design for the SS, the salesman's samples and boards are according to the manufacturer and have no set official pattern .

What I read is the name of the German town: Württemberg (Württ.b.)

                          Cary,

Are these completed tabs with folded over edges with backing material...or are they flat one layer velvet with only the embroidery on them? That is how they appear in the photos, but maybe its an optical illusion. Thanks,

                          Richard
