Hello folks. I've had this old nickel silver Adler for quite some time now...probably part of a larger veteran grouping I picked up in the past, but am wondering if this might qualify as an early SS (for the Baskenmuetze type cap) cap eagle. I've virtually never seen the four-prong set up on other early 1929 cap-sized types such as this before. It's got the RZM markings on the upper rear corners of both wings, the numeric part somewhat obscured by patination, but appears to be either "36" or "56". There's nothing about it markings-wise, that would specifically imply SS so more than likely just an early "political" type that would have been appropriate for any SA, SS, etc, cap. Either way, I'd appreciate your comments. Thanks.

Early SS (or SA / Political) Cap Eagle

Eagle
Very nice original SA/SS cap eagle. Some early examples have a tiny RZM logo where the wing almost touches the skull. The SS and SA versions were exactly the same, so there's no way to tell, but odds are at least 10 to 1 against it having been worn by an SS man. You'll never know. It would certainly be appropriate to display it as an early SS item, or put it on an original EARLY SS visor cap. Nothing wrong at all.
