Nice stick pin....I always was of the impression ,that the twist in the pin was to hold the pin from falling out.(a built in retainer of sorts by design) Is the retaining catch something the germans wore with a stick pin on a common basis, as i have never seen one worn with any german stick pin , but seen them on smoothe stick pins that had no twist that are non german. Wouldnt that leave a big bulge on a lapel ? Thanks .

Erich, Looks to be the un-numbered one from John Pepera's collection. Nice pin. I've looked many years for an SS member's pin by Gahr....no luck.
