    Totenkopf family photos

Hi all, this is my first post of substance. I'm trying to find out a few details about a relative who was in 3rd SS Totenkopf Div, stabs III Bn Theodor Eicke Regiment. He won the EK and was wounded once, before being killed at Krivoi Rog in Roumania. I'm interested to know the model of tunic he is wearing, and details about the insignia he is wearing ... ie year of manufacture and manufacturer etc. I know this may be difficult, but any insights will add a great deal to our understanding. I have recently acquired his papers from the Deutsche Dienstelle, which confirms the above details. The photo of him with the SS runes on the collar was taken at the Nurnberg stadium after passing out of SS training school there.

Usually, when the face is blocked out, it means X-rated.

Hi, Yes, I know. I wanted to just put a transparent box with text over the face, but am not tech savvy enough to do this. Apols.

          A few additional observations:

The first photo shows him wearing an Iron Cross 2nd Class, obviously freshly awarded. His rank as displayed on his collar patch is Sturmmann.

The second photo shows the same rank, but the Tresse loop on his shoulder boards additionally identify him as an NCO candidate. No ribbon or ribbon bar for the Iron Cross 2nd class is visible, so this photo was apparently taken at some earlier date. In this image, he is wearing a Wound Badge in Black (also seen on the last tiny detail shot at the bottom) as well as his division's "Death's Head" collar patch.

You mentioned that the third photograph was taken upon completion of basic training. Fittingly, he is wearing the blank collar patch for the lowest rank (Schütze etc.) and no awards or decorations.

The fourth photograph shows him as a Sturmmann again; this time we can tell from his single rank chevron. No awards or decorations, though, so it was taken after the third photograph, but before the second one. There is something on his left lower sleeve, but the photograph is too tiny to make out any details. Could be an Oberbayern-pattern "Skull" cuff title.
