SS Panzer Side Cap on Estand

I was wondering what are your opinions about this cap especially insignia application. Is it really wartime applied. What are your feelings?

Isn't the top of the soutache should be more worn than the top of the skull? It sticks out more and should shield the skull from wearing. Just my thought.

The cap appears to be original (to me) and when the insignia and soutache were applied is impossible to tell.
