[QUOTE=Robin Lumsden;3687133][quote=Don Doering;3687116]Its all perspective Robin. Some people actively search online auctions etc... for good items to bid on, sleepers etc....

    I suppose so.

If more folks had seen that black FW/FK skull....................
I did not need more bidders in the auction ...

A circular prospect - if you're sure, you surely wait until the end (agree , Ben); if you're not sure, you surely ask others and invite the competition.

No subsitute for knowlege in an auction.

This is getting close to my thoughts...it is a conundrum, a paradox...
it is almost sneaky in a way.....and shows an interesting parallel to the unscrupulous dealers we so love to hate...
Is the flip side of the coin of the dishonest dealer; the "dont let anyone know" collectors? or how about the collectors who, as already stated, will hijack another's sale from the rube who niavely asked for advice?

I know this is not an entirely fair or perfect comparison, but some of you must see my point?

Even if one disagrees ...I might suggest how this thread also highlights that the human penchant for collecting when taken to the extreme is actually a form of madness.

Your point is of course clear.

But few passionate collectors are above temptation. Collectors are, essentially, greedy.

You would think someone with all of the best would be content, but usually not so.

          Ask Tiger Woods.

Yes I agree Frog. I don't collect German & I don't get to the big shows. I find 90% of my new additions off eBay. On another board I frequent there is a strict rule against posting links or pointing at current, on going auctions. If a newbe has a question or a repro concern they can send some PM's to their mentors or experts. Once it's made public the sellers enjoy the free advertising. Rarely do the auctions go full term & the seller is usually made an offer he cant refuse. It's now a standard practice to ask a seller if he'll accept a "buy it now" price. It used to piss me off but now I'll do the same. All's fair in lover war & eBay.

THIS is what I'm talking about Robin:

Findthehelmets and helmetbuyers and not only active ebay "backdoor" guys, but they even backdoor EACH OTHER in the middle of a backdoor operation!!

If any of you EVER find a good deal, just grab it and don't even mention it here!!

                        Hello
                        What a bunch of fools
After all these years on ebay , I find strange that the same names keep popping up with helmets removed from ebay . People keep complaining about "evil " ebay when in fact at least 90% of items removed by ebay , are reported by others in the first place .
                        Regards
                        P-Y

You have a mole on the forum , in fact several,(Ill call them "the Rats") and i know how they work, that's one issue I dont like about e bay,Your honest with them, and they aren't honest with you, ... i would like e bay to repair the flaw, and that's to POST the complaintant's e bay names who report the item as offensive. One reason i don't patronize e bay..but heres a clue ??? the seller knows, because he has been e mailed by the "rats" already, and IS one or more of the people who wrote the seller about it...(ask the seller who wrote him tonight) but then youll know who the rats are ,one of a very few who emailed the seller on his list of inquirers just tonight, just now... thats could be embarrassing big time ...as they wouldnt do it if others could find the rats out. The rats been at it for many years now, as they all ,as rats, play a dirty game of dealing behind , and around e bays rules. You all just got stiffed. He is one of you,in the click .. and your good friends. hahaha thats real funny how you go on strutting your ignorances, all friendly and such then stab each other in the back, as hitlers rise to power was with a story on back stabbing the jews. Like fallin in your own crap house...much Better than TV i say....SO fellows HO HO HO and .....merry christmas .(by the way it wasnt me) with a little smarts YULE figure it out. Get it YULE hahaha.
