SS License Plates

Hello,

Just aquired these today and have never dealt with them before. I know these were highly faked but I found similar ones on the forum posted with thumbs up. Any info would be great, also what kind of value do these have in this condition, for eStand purposes.

These are fake, IMHO.

The black lettering looks like it was sprayed on yesterday.

Were these supposed to be spray painted or hand painted?

Both, probably.

But there's a well-known photo of a LAH man hand-painting an SS motor cycle number plate in 1940.

If you take the photo in the link I posted and added flash, it would be close. I think some of the redness comes from the flash. All the features match.

I have an extensive collection of civillian plates and I don't like them; wrong paint application for the period. I wholly admit that one can rarely tell from pictures alone, but that's my guess.

If they were original I wouldn't be surprised to see them for $850 (each).

Thank you for the info. I didn't care for them myself but from what I've seen posted and passed "I feel may be a little questionable as well," it kind of put a question in my mind as to being possibly original. Again thank you

I don't remember seeing the "0" done like that on plates. Crates maybe but not plates.....but I've only seen a couple of dozen or so.
