Agreed! I bet he's an army officer and has Heer regimental (3 digit numerical) unit cyphers on the Lt shoulder boards.
Those are not rank pips...nor SS cyphers (like a "D" or "LAH")

Here's an example of such a 3 digit Heer unit cypher:
200 Pz. Gren. Reg. (90 pz.Div), worn on a DAK/SĂĽd Front Kradmelder coat

On the pattern itself I am leaning towards oak#2 as it seems to have its drawings .
I could be wrong , as the picture is very dull .
But overall a super uniform and a awsome picture .

I agree with Mark, the hat and the jacket are probably made from Zelts etc.

A fair number of Army Medical and support personnel were attached to SS units and used a lot of their issue items as well. There also is the picture in the Davis book of the a Heer Officer wearing SS camo jacket.

That is interesting. My picture is an original war-time print on Agfa-Lupex paper. What book did you see it in?

In one of the camo books, there is a pic of a Heer solider sporting a nice SS camo cap. I also have 1 or 2 photos of what im pretty sure are heer soldiers wearing SS smocks... I guess you took what you could get. I would post pics put im a long ways away from them currently and to try and have the gf dig them out would be a lost cause. Great photo though! Matt
