      Ian, you're right in a way that Museum pieces are not always 100% accurate.

          There was nothing that jumped out as being a fake ... although your security labelling may be hiding a droopy eyed skull on the sidecap.

            There are plenty of turds in museum collections as well. They also buy items from dealers etc. In the US there are many very questionable "Civil War" pieces, especially Confederate items, This also happens with WWI and WWII.
