Has anyone noticed the big jump on prices of Honor Rings as of late? They seem to be ranging from 8K-12K on most dealer sites. I'm glad that I picked mine up about 4 years ago! Any thoughts?

HRing Prices?

There were plenty of HRs selling for 8k+ three and more years ago, but I agree that prices are moving upward as of late.
You can see same thing with SS insignia (see thread on this forum) and with most everything else in the hobby and other similar fields and gold!! Solid assets are drawing cash into them right now...same as the last half of the 1970s and other periods.
Hard to say where the prices will settle out for while. They may drop off a little at some point or may shoot through the roof and not come down from that.
High selling prices do make a lot of things come into the market that otherwise would not, but the other thing that I have noticed is that to a point an increase in the supply seems to actually fuel and drive demand (and prices) even higher.....it crazy but true in my observation.
Most of my collecting life HRs have followed pretty close to RKs in price...maybe trailing a little....but both items have many criteria that determine actual price.....there are certainly HRs that have brought 15k or so that were not named to "household" names in the SS.

It would probably be a much simpler task just to list all of the 3rd Reich items are not going up in price. I would start the list, but I do not know of any.
I think that all of the faking and controversy over these HRs (much like RKs especially up to about 5-10 years ago when they got them pretty well sorted out) has actually increased the interest in these! Everyone wants what they can not have and it would seem that owning an original in the sea of fakes that exist is some sort of added prestige factor.

I've got a nice 37 for sale, worn pretty much , rear rune gone. Asking $4500, open to offers. Had it on another site for sale. Had 5 emails, they all want it, all want to do a lay- a -way,,a couple 1 year, others 2 to 6 months!, can't do it..
I'll give it to Don at the SOS, he'll present it nice with a nice story about it etc etc, even squeeze a little more out of it! [I'm not the shmoozing type]
Point being,,as crazy as it sounds it's sometimes matters who's doing the selling that can also set the price...
